Three big cranes are on their manner to be used on the Oakland Worldwide Container Terminal on the Port of Oakland in California, port officers introduced late final week.
Stevedoring Companies of America (SSA) is investing within the big cranes from Shanghai-based ZPMC, which can be among the many tallest on the port. SSA operates 10 cranes on the terminal.
“Taller cranes are wanted for effectively dealing with cargo that arrives on ultra-large container ships,” mentioned SSA Containers President Edward DeNike in a press launch. “This new infrastructure is a dedication to the port that we’ll proceed our maritime enterprise at Oakland properly into the longer term.”
SSA’s funding within the cranes is valued at $30 million, port officers mentioned. The cranes are anticipated to reach on the terminal someday this week.
