Six new hybrid rubber-tired gantry cranes have been delivered earlier this month to the South Carolina Ports‘ Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal.
The brand new rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes are the ultimate items of cargo-handling gear for the container terminal, which can open in North Charleston on the finish of March, South Carolina Ports Authority officers stated in a information launch.
The six new RTG cranes will be a part of the 19 RTG cranes already on the location for Section 1 of the Leatherman Terminal.
The brand new RTGs run 100% on electrical battery energy, that means diesel solely runs when the batteries must be recharged, which successfully reduces idling time. The batteries are anticipated to cut back gas consumption by round 70% when in comparison with standard diesel port cranes.
