Main fireplace erupted on board of fish manufacturing unit ALEUTIAN FALCON, berthed at Takoma port, at night time Feb 17. Firefighting continued effectively into morning Feb 18, a number of engines and tugs have been deployed in firefighting, however firefighters couldn’t board the ship due to ferocity of fireplace. Within the morning the ship developed a visual record, hull cracks have been reported, so tugs needed to swap to hull cooling. Firefighting was additional sophisticated by a big amount of ammonia, saved on board of the ship or close to, it’s not clear. Reportedly, by 0530 LT (UTC -8) Feb 18, fireplace was put below management.
