Seven world flag state and classification societies have joined in launching the Maritime Applied sciences Discussion board (MTF), an organisation that may present technical and regulatory analysis, experience and management to help the shipping sector and its regulators as they navigate the impacts of accelerating know-how advances.
The MTF will focus totally on applied sciences associated to power effectivity, various fuels and autonomy. Members will collaborate on analysis and draw on their collective regulatory experience to supply recommendation to the shipping sector.
They may also invite contributions from others within the marine business to make sure that new applied sciences are safely examined and adopted, and that world rules replicate stakeholder wants.
Founding members of the MTF are the American Bureau of Delivery (ABS), DNV, Japan’s Maritime Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Lloyd’s Register (LR), Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK), the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA), and the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Company (MCA).
