The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has activated the Coast Guard District Bangsamoro Autonomous Area in Muslim Mindanao (CGDBARMM) to reinforce maritime legislation enforcement within the waters of Mindanao.
In an announcement issued on Wednesday, March 17, the PCG mentioned the CGDBARMM was positioned at No. 10 Rajah Tabunaway Boulevard, Cotabato Metropolis and was activated in compliance with the Article XI, Part 7 of the Republic Act 11054 or the Bangsamoro Natural Legislation.
“The PCG shall set up a regional workplace within the BARMM which shall be organized, maintained, supervised, and utilized for the first goal of legislation enforcement over Coast Guard issues… beneath the direct operational and administrative management and supervision of the PCG,” the legislation said.
Led by District Commander Captain Christopher Meniado, the CGDBARMM will govern the middle of commerce, commerce, and sea lanes of communication in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Cotabato Metropolis, and Basilan.
“The activation of the CGDBARMM shall additional intensify the implementation of maritime legislation enforcement, maritime safety, and maritime security capabilities within the area for the safety of its individuals and their sources,” PCG Commandant Admiral George Ursabia Jr. mentioned.
The CGDBARMM is the fifteenth Coast Guard District throughout the nation and the sixth Coast Guard District in all the area of Mindanao.
